Critical Communication

#communication

We all know communication is important. This isn’t news, but how many times a day do we still deal with problems that arise from poor communication? Clearly, theory is not the same as application.

Karl Sutt recently wrote how to communicate effectively as a developer and I can attest to the validity of his argument. When someone has an issue with one of our services at work, “the site doesn’t work, fix it” isn't terribly helpful. Which site? Doesn’t work how? Who are you? How am I supposed to reach you to get answers to any of these questions?

It can be a challenge to balance putting too much detail into a message vs nowhere near enough, but it's a challenge worth putting effort into. The alternative is what? Noise with no signal.
